Recycling Chaos In U.S. As China Bans ‘Foreign Waste’ http://n.pr/2zTpLJ8 PTF: REPROCESSING PLASTICS | Ecology Center: https://ecologycenter.org/plastics/ptf/report5/ Plastics recycling. Recycling for manufacturing. “Necessary Infrastructure” and a “Necessary Market”. Putting plastics in landfills, or trying to ship it to other countries to make it “someone else’s problem” is irresponsible, wasteful, immoral. Advertisements
https://the1a.org/shows/2017-12-04/the-ground-beneath-our-feet Add “Soil Fertility/Sustainability” under the section of “Agriculture” on *this* taxpayer/voter/citizen’s list of “Infrastructure Concerns”. As a Jesus-Lovin’ Deist and “Purple Republican”, it reinforces my misgivings about Trump and the Conservatives ramming thru tax cuts for the already-well-off upper crust, when the economy is still growing well, unemployment is down, and we could use the tax revenue on short-, medium-, and long-term infrastructure and defense projects that would offer better economic growth here at home….

Loved his two “Hellboy” movies, loved “Pan’s Labyrinth”, am one of the apparently few who liked “Crimson Peak” and “Pacific Rim”. Barely remember seeing his ‘inspiration’ for this movie [“The Creature from the Black Lagoon”; think I saw it on either “Superhost” or “Big Chuck & Little John” local shows, decades ago]. Wondering if my Fiance will put up with another sci-fi/fantasy movie, or if I have to see it solo…..

I miss having time to think about *everything*. Mind you, not going to give up what I have to regain that time. I have a good woman in my life now, going to make her my wife. Still. I miss lazy Sundays on my bachelor’s “game room”, with either the TV on some history or science PBS broadcast program, or with NPR on. Tinkering with my HeroClix collection, tinkering with the rules, pondering larger questions about *everything* while I worked […]
6 Possible Hurdles For The GOP Tax Plan http://n.pr/2zY0noO Hi. I’m not a journalist, not any kind of ‘expert’. I’m a blue-collar, working-class, tax-paying white American male, a “Purple Republican” Ohioan, a Moderate/Centrist. Often thought of myself as a “Conservative” back in the 1990’s, especially diring my 6-year stint in th Army. No, I’m not running for any office. In the “Life, Liberty, & the Pursuit of Happiness” vein, I’m happy being a workaday “Cog” in the socioeconomic machine propelling […]

Well, being a superhero/sci-fi/fantasy/spy movie fan, it’s been a good run of some fun stuff for a few years now. Yep, saw THOR: RAGNORAK (Marvel Comics) and JUSTICE LEAGUE (DC Comics). They were fun. But, have managed to do something I’ve rarely done this year: see some good non-superhero-y stuff. In the theater, not DVD or cable. Next on the list, if i can find a theater showing it: “Bombshell: The Hedy Lamarr Story”. Should be up there with the […]

pennyworth: Word of the Day from Dictionary.com http://www.dictionary.com/wordoftheday/2017/11/24 Hm. Being a bit of a comic book superhero aficionado, makes me consider the name and the development — over decades, in print and on-screen — of the supporting character of Alfred Pennyworth, the “batman” to Bruce Wayne/”The Batman”. “What’s in a name…?”
scrimshank: Word of the Day from Dictionary.com http://www.dictionary.com/wordoftheday/2017/11/16 Really, really hope my bosses and coworkers don’t think this of me. I do my best. I know it’s not good enough. Gotten older, fatter, slower (mentally and physically). Never was smart enough for this job. If they do think such of me, they’ve never said so directly. I tend to take some ‘looks’ and strained conversations as hints. I won’t quit. They should fire me, if they think/feel thia way….

Never had the “summer camp experience” either, it sounds more developmentally positive than fraterity having, tho. There was no need for deliberately sadistic hazing practices in the Army. It was rough, but positive, helped develop a sense of being part of something greater […]

Took my Fiance to meet my Dad at the Cobblestone today, to catch a matinee of the historical biopic drama, “LBJ”. It was very good, we all liked it. Made me want to see the PBS American Experience series on him again. Well, I’ve missed the opening weekend to a Marvel Comics movie, first time in a long time. Missed THOR: RAGNORAK this weekend. Will have to see it twice next weekend, then! 😁😎 Now, THE WALKING DEAD. Catching up….

A.I. Artificial Intelligence (2001) – Rotten Tomatoes: https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/ai_artificial_intelligence/ Wow, that “Critics’ Concensus” blurb really sums things up. I remember seeing this movie twice in the theater back when it was released. I remember that l liked it, with a couple caveats. Don’t remember seeing it since. Worth another viewing. (I guess I’m just into bleak sci-fi movies about where human behavior and our innovative technological advances might ultimately take us, which is either some degree of Enlightenment (rare outcome in these movies) […]
